Really liked the Mane 6 and how all served a purpose, even if other episodes do better at fleshing their personalities out, while still being likeable and in character.
The voice acting is without complaint all round. The music once again is dynamic, with a lot of character and also in good keeping with the tone. One is very immersed in this vividly rendered world, built up beautifully. The colours are vibrant and atmospheric and the attention to detail in the backgrounds is so rich and varied. The animation went from strength to strength with each season and it is excellent here. On the other hand, there are so many brilliant things in "The Beginning of the End Part 1". Not an awful lot wrong, though some of it is familiar ground and some of the pace early on could have been tighter. Luckily, "The Beginning of the End Part 1" turned out to be great, a very promising start for Season 9 and one of the better episodes of the season (which actually could have been better than it turned out, but generally an improvement on the previous). Was really hoping that it would be a breath of fresh air after being generally disappointed with the previous season and also on the whole the show had a decent track record with their season openers (less so finales). "The Beginning of the End Part 1" was watched with quite high expectations, considering that Season 9 was 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's' final season. Season 8 was every bit as uneven as 6, with sporadic great episodes but also too many real low points. Season 7 was an improvement, with the least number of misfires (only one was below average) and two of the show's best. Season 6 was very inconsistent, with a good deal of average or less episodes and no masterpieces (though some great episodes as well). Seasons 1-5 had their misfires, but their best episodes were some of the best of the whole of 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'.
